First Snow - Giclee Prints
First Snow is a quiet winter moment painted in Tom Ward’s signature, light-filled style. It is the first in a series of four winter landscapes. A soft blue sky stretches wide above a snow-covered field, where two small red barns glow like warm embers against the cold. Evergreen trees rise along the ridge, their tops touched with fresh white, while faint fence posts disappear into the drifts—simple markers of a landscape settling into stillness. Painted in 1999, inspired by the surrounding landscape of Cornwall, NY, his home area during that period. It is the first in a series of three of winter landscape scenes.
This 7×10 oil painting feels both airy and intimate: loose, confident brushwork; crisp winter light; and that unmistakable first-snow hush that makes everything look new again. A small piece with a big breath of calm—perfect for a cozy nook, gallery wall grouping, or a heartfelt seasonal gift.
Each Giclee print is hand-signed and dated by Tom Ward — a genuine mark of the artist at this moment in his life. As ALS gradually limits his physical strength, these signatures carry meaning beyond authentication. They reflect persistence and devotion to craft.
