Look Out
Look Out captures a coastal relic—the classic wooden lifeguard chair, once a staple on beaches up and down the Atlantic. Taken in July 2014, this photograph freezes a fleeting moment in shoreline history. These wooden chairs, once built by hand and aged by the sea, have now given way to modern versions crafted from plastic and other non-organic materials.
Set against a hazy sky and flanked by sea oats, the black and white image evokes beach days gone by—when the rhythm of waves met the watchful gaze of lifeguards perched high on timber frames.
Offered in 5x7, 8x10, and 8½x11 sizes on fine matte cotton rag photographic paper.
A 5x7 version printed on hand-pulled paper is also available—textured, tactile, and one-of-a-kind.
